Matching mugs
Medium size. $60 each.
This set of 2 mugs was made by commission for a lovely customer! Each one is approximately 12 cm tall and 10 cm wide, made with Canadian stoneware clay Plainsman Coffee, thrown on the pottery wheel, trimmed, shaped, sculpted, handled, stamped, bisque fired, glazed with merman from Cafe au Clay Pottery Studio and finally glaze fired to cone 6 (1200°C). Dishwasher and microwave safe.
[ This set of 2 mugs came to me as a very special commission inquiry from Gabriela, a friend from Brazil, who’s getting married to André, and asked me to make a unique piece to gift him on their wedding day (May 25th). Everything gets even more emotional when I get the news that she is on her way to start her MBA at MIT in Boston after the wedding, but André will stay in Brazil and visit her sometimes. Anyways, she asked me for a pair of matching mugs, but came with a beautiful idea and meaning to them: they’d intertwine with each other and fit together like puzzle pieces, and both would complete one’s phrase stamped in Portuguese: “I love you to infinity…”, “… and beyond.” On the bottom of both mugs the phrase continues with “beyond the the distance, beyond the missing, beyond this life. A & G”. I KNOW, something fell in my eye… And the fact that both mugs will meet again when their owners are together again, is just… speechless. I can’t express how honoured I feel to have been entrusted with making such a unique and special order to passionate humans on the other side of the continent.
